We’re partnering with a leading business in St Peter Port, Guernsey, to recruit a Finance Assistant on a part-time basis (25 hours per week). This is a great opportunity if you enjoy working with numbers and want to build a career in finance. You’ll report day-to-day to the Senior Financial Controller and receive full training, gaining hands-on experience across accounts payable, accounts receivable and management reporting.

Key Skills

  • Comfortable with numbers – you enjoy working with figures and financial data and are happy dealing with them every day.

  • Strong attention to detail – you take pride in getting things right, ensuring invoices, journals and reports are accurate and error-free.

  • Basic Excel knowledge – you can use spreadsheets for tracking, reporting and data input, and are keen to build on this skill.

  • Proactive mindset – you like to take initiative, tackle tasks and solve problems without needing constant supervision.

  • Clear communication and good organisation – you can explain things simply, work well with colleagues and keep on top of multiple responsibilities.

  • Supportive team player – you enjoy collaborating with others and contributing to shared goals and deadlines.

  • Deadline-driven – you can manage your workload to support monthly, quarterly and year-end processes.

What you’ll do

  • Support accounts payable and receivable, including processing invoices, payments and refunds.

  • Help with month-end and intercompany journals and assist the team with management reporting.

  • Handle daily online banking transfers and upload foreign exchange rates.

  • Assist in preparing audit information and reporting packs for group entities.

  • Maintain vendor invoices, trackers and cheque management activities, keeping records up to date and accurate.

What you’ll need

  • A numerically minded approach and strong attention to detail.

  • Basic Excel skills and confidence working with financial information.

  • Clear communication skills and good organisational ability.

  • A proactive, “can do” attitude and a genuine willingness to learn.

  • The ability to work well within a team and meet agreed deadlines.

Why this role could be right for you

  • Part-time flexibility – 25 hours per week, ideal if you’re looking to balance work with other commitments.

  • Full training provided – you don’t need years of experience; you’ll be supported to learn on the job.

  • Broad exposure to finance – gain experience across multiple finance disciplines and build a solid foundation for your future career.

  • Supportive, professional team – join a friendly finance department where your contribution is valued and your development is encouraged.

If you’re numerically minded, eager to learn and looking for a part-time role that offers real development in finance, we’d love to tell you more. Contact the team today for further details.
