A leading name in global private banking is recruiting a Non-Financial Risk Trainee to join our client’s team in St Peter Port, Guernsey. This is a permanent opportunity within their Chief Risk Office, offering a structured trainee programme that immerses you in wealth management, non-financial risk and the wider 2nd line of defence function.

Key skills

  • Analytical mindset – You’ll assess operational incidents and risk indicators, interpreting data to support effective risk management decisions.
  • Attention to detail – Accurate creation of management information and risk reports is crucial to maintaining a robust risk framework.
  • Interpersonal & communication skills – You’ll collaborate with colleagues across our client’s team and present information to stakeholders at different levels.
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency – You’ll use Excel to manage data, track key risk indicators and support reporting for risk meetings and committees.
  • Strong work ethic & appetite to learn – You’ll be part of a structured programme, developing technically and professionally, including relevant study over time.
  • Passion for wealth management – An interest in financial services and creating value beyond wealth will help you thrive in this environment.

What you’ll do

  • Support the Guernsey Branch Risk Management Framework.
  • Review and approve operational incident risk assessments.
  • Assist in managing the local control plan.
  • Contribute to Key Risk Indicator reporting.
  • Prepare Management Information for risk meetings and committees.

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Banking, Economics or similar, or relevant industry experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Confidence in communicating and presenting at all levels.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel.
