Introducing our brand new series, More Than Just a Job: Life at AD Offshore, a collection of interviews with the people who make up our business!
We’re always striving to be as transparent with our customers and clients as possible, so we thought it’d be a great idea to take a look behind the curtain and see what makes AD Offshore tick – the people, the culture and our approach to life across the islands.
This week, we’re sitting down with Sabrina Stoddart, Senior Consultant at AD Offshore. Let’s dive into her story:
What inspired you to join AD Offshore and how did you first hear about us?
“I was open to a new opportunity and reached out to my friend/consultant Hannah, who met with me to discuss my options thoroughly. We had a meaningful conversation about recruitment and how it could be a suitable path for me. She arranged a discussion with Sarah, who also agreed that my prior knowledge and experience would complement my transition into a Recruitment Consultant role.”
Can you share a standout moment from your first week/month here?
“I must say, my second week at Alexander Daniels was truly unforgettable. I was quickly arranged to join the summer conference trip held in Ibiza. Let’s just say, it was lovely to bond with my colleagues by the pool while enjoying a Pina Colada.”
What were your first impressions of the team and the company culture?
“My first impressions of the team were extremely positive; everyone was welcoming, approachable and made me feel comfortable from day one, which I greatly appreciated as it’s so daunting starting as a newbie!”
How has working at AD impacted your life?
“AD has supported me both professionally and personally, providing an environment where hard work and commitment are always recognised and rewarded with a genuine sense of achievement. The friendships I’ve built, not only with colleagues but also with candidates, have been incredibly meaningful and I’m truly grateful to AD for creating these relationships.”
If you could give one piece of advice to someone joining AD, what would it be?
“Be ready for plenty of banter in the office and never take yourself too seriously. Recruitment is intense, but the team makes it fun.”

How has your role evolved since you started?
“My role here at AD has naturally developed. I initially joined with no previous recruitment experience, so I received a lot of support and guidance from my team. I learned quickly and soon placed my first candidate in a junior role. Recently, I have been promoted to Senior Consultant, a goal I set for myself this year.”
What skills have you gained or developed during your time with us?
“During my time here I’ve developed several skills that have really shaped my career. Professionally, I’ve strengthened my ability to build and manage relationships, not just with clients and candidates but also within a team environment. I’ve also strengthened my organisational and time-management skills, balancing multiple priorities while keeping attention to detail. On top of that, I’ve gained confidence in communication, whether that’s negotiating or handling sensitive conversations. Personally, I’ve become much more resilient and adaptable, learning how to approach challenges with a solutions-focused mindset.”
Can you share a time when the team or leadership made a difference in your day?
“One time leadership really made a difference to my day was when my manager took the time to sit down with me after a tough client call. They gave me constructive feedback but also encouragement, which completely turned my perspective around. I went from feeling deflated to motivated, and it made me appreciate how invested leadership is in my development.”
What’s your favourite part of your job?
“There are lots of highlights to mention, but I would say one of my favourite parts of the job would be creating strong relationships with my candidates. It is very rewarding to read their feedback on my service. I am enjoying following their journey and keeping up to date with their progress. I can’t forget to mention the incredible trips we get to experience as a business.”
How would you describe the culture at AD in three words?
“Inspiring, challenging and hilarious.”
What’s the most surprising or unexpected thing you’ve learned while working here?
“For me, the unexpected thing has been how much I’ve grown in confidence. Speaking to senior professionals daily, negotiating offers and managing sometimes challenging situations have developed my communication skills in a way I never imagined when I started.”
What’s your favourite team tradition or event?
“I think my favourite event has to be UK Christmas party. It’s the perfect excuse to get dressed up, soak up the festive markets and really get into the holiday spirit. I also can’t resist making the most of the shops while I’m there… you’ll find me in Zara if I don’t answer my phone.”
