Our client, a leading legal practice, is seeking a highly skilled lawyer to join their dynamic International Trusts and Private Client (ITPC) team in St Peter Port, Guernsey. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on high-value, multi-jurisdictional matters within a cohesive and ambitious team that combines expertise in private wealth advisory, structuring, and dispute resolution. Skills

  • Non-Contentious Trust Expertise: Extensive experience advising on trust structures, asset management, and estate planning for high-net-worth clients.

  • Cross-Jurisdictional Knowledge: Ability to provide guidance across multiple legal systems, ensuring effective governance over successive generations.

  • Leadership: Experience in mentoring, managing, and developing junior fee earners to enhance team capabilities.

  • Commercial Acumen: A strong grasp of matter management, financial performance, and business-building initiatives.

  • Communication: Superior ability to present, delegate, and network both internally and externally.

What you’ll do

  • Provide expert legal advice on Guernsey-related private client matters.

  • Advise high-net-worth families and trustees on estate and succession planning.

  • Collaborate with dispute resolution and corporate teams on multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Supervise and support associates, paralegals, and secretarial staff within the department.

  • Lead practice-building efforts including networking, proposals, and client relationship development.

What you’ll need

  • Professional qualification as a Solicitor or Barrister (common law jurisdiction preferred).

  • At least 8 years of post-qualification experience within a relevant practice.

  • STEP qualification and specific offshore experience are advantageous.

  • Strong organizational, business-building, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • A proactive and collaborative approach combined with a willingness to develop and adapt.
